In March 2023, I had the privilege of taking part in the 14th Brain Week, organized by the non-profit Ciências e Cognição, an event that stands out in the academic calendar for its multidisciplinary approach, exploring the rich intersection of neuroscience, art, medicine, education and other fields. As part of the programme, I took part in the online round table “Art-Science and Neuroeducation”, held on 15 March.
On that occasion I presented the talk “Arte-Ciência: reeducação do sentir na convergência entre duas culturas” (Art-Science: re-educating feeling at the convergence of two cultures), a journey through the world where art and science meet and dialogue. The talk, now available (in Portuguese) on the “Ciências e Cognição” YouTube channel, reflects my interest in exploring how these two spheres, often seen as separate, can in fact complement each other and enrich our perception and learning.
The round table also featured other participants. “Neuroaesthetics: research on the creative process in light of neuroscience” was presented in two parts (part 1 and part 2), by Andrea Lana (SMERJ) and Alfred Sholl-Franco (IBCCF/UFRJ). There was also “Art therapy as neurobiological treatment”, an intriguing talk by Elizabete Castelon Konkiewitz (UFGD).
These videos are freely available on YouTube for students, researchers and anyone passionate about neuroscience, education and art. They offer insights into how neuroscience and art can connect to broaden our understanding of the human.
I invite everyone to watch these talks on the “Ciências e Cognição” channel and to join us on this journey of discovery and learning at the intersections of art, science and education.
