My research develops at the intersection of media studies, semiotics, cognition, neuroscience, and science and health education, examining how technologies, images, narratives and systems of representation participate in learning, meaning-making and the public communication of science.

Research areas and themes
Media and scientific culture
Audiovisual media, images, narratives, digital culture, artificial intelligence, science communication and mediation processes.
Cognition and learning
Meaning-making, semiosis, cognition, neuroeducation and the relationships among representation, language and learning.
Science, health and education
Educational technologies, telehealth, simulation, health professions education, science museums and non-formal education.
Research groups
CLASS
The Cognition, Language and Audiovisual in Semiotic Systems (CLASS) research group brings together projects, researchers and graduate students working across media, language, cognition and semiotic systems.
Neuroeduc
I serve as co-leader of Neuroeduc – Neuroscience Applied to Education, developing work on the interfaces among neuroscience, education, learning and science communication.
Current projects
- Telehealth, simulation-based education and audiovisual mediation in healthcare and health professions education.
- Philosophy of education and technological representations in science and health education.
- Technoscientific imaginaries and meaning-making in education and public communication in health.
Supervision and collaboration
I welcome master’s and doctoral research proposals that engage with these areas, as well as academic collaborations involving media studies, semiotics, cognition, education, science communication and health professions education.
