Professor and researcher at the Institute Nutes of Science and Health Education, Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). I investigate how media, images, narratives and technologies participate in learning, meaning-making and the communication of science and health.
What I research
My work develops at the intersection of media studies, semiotics, neuroscience and science and health education, examining how different systems of representation reorganize learning experiences, care practices and ways of understanding science.

I coordinate and participate in projects on audiovisual mediation in health professions education, semiotics of culture, technoscientific imaginaries and public communication of science, connecting research, teaching and public engagement.

Glaucio Aranha is a professor and researcher at UFRJ working at the intersection of media studies, semiotics, neuroscience, and science and health education. He leads the CLASS research group and co-leads the Neuroeduc research group. His activities in research, teaching and public engagement focus on communication, educational technologies and scientific culture.
