On 13 November, I had the privilege of taking part in the final stage of fieldwork for the research of my master’s student, Danielle Vasconcelos. Completing this stage of her master’s project marks not only progress in her intellectual path but also a testament to the power of collaboration and interactive education.
This stage was completed thanks to the invaluable collaboration of the students in the classes taught by Professor Talita de Assis at CIEP 178 João Saldanha, in Belford Roxo, Rio de Janeiro. These young students’ contribution was fundamental to Danielle’s project, offering valuable insights and authentic perspectives on how they represent the signs Science and Technology in relation to their future plans.
Throughout 2023, we held a series of meetings at this school, discussing students’ perceptions of Science and Technology. These conversations revealed how young people see the influence of these fields on their future plans, offering a window into the aspirations and concerns of the next generation.
I want to express my deepest gratitude to Prof. Talita de Assis for her exceptional collaboration. Her ability to guide and motivate the students was essential to the success of this initiative. The experience enriched not only Danielle’s master’s project but also offered a valuable space for learning and exchanging ideas for everyone involved.
Working with the students of CIEP 178 was a powerful reminder that science and technology are not just abstract fields of study but forces that actively shape our lives and dreams. This project reinforced my conviction that education and research should be conducted collaboratively, across disciplines and, above all, humanely.
On behalf of Danielle and the whole research team, I thank everyone involved for their continued support and essential participation. I look forward to the next stages of this project and to the future collaborations that may arise from this fruitful meeting of minds.
