In the 2025.2 semester I will teach the course NUT732 – Curriculum and Teaching Planning in the Health Area, a component of the Graduate Program in Education in Sciences and Health (PPGECS/UFRJ). The course intends to critically analyze the training conditions of health professionals, faculty, and students, articulating curricula and teaching strategies capable of responding to the contemporary challenges of medical education.
Classes will be held on Tuesdays, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., between 5 August and 11 November 2025, totaling 60 face‑to‑face hours. Registration for UFRJ students remains open until 29 July 2025 via SIGA‑UFRJ. Classes in Portuguese.
External students should contact the Nutes (Post)graduate Office at instituto.nutes@gmail.com, copying pos-grad@nutes.ufrj.br, with the subject line “REQUEST FOR ENROLLMENT IN ISOLATED COURSE.” The message must request enrollment, state the course name, and attach the required documents (1 – Proof of active enrollment in a stricto sensu (post)graduate program; 2 – Updated Curriculum Vitae; 3 – Letter of application to the course) in a single PDF file. Acceptance will depend on review of the submitted documents and, if necessary, an interview.
We aim to create a dialogue space that brings together theoretical‑critical foundations – such as the perspective of cognitive modifiability and continuing education – with innovative pedagogical practices, including video‑based simulation (VBS) for the development of clinical and communication competencies in the educational process.
The syllabus and program (subject to change) are available at: https://glaucioaranha.com/nut732/ (in portuguese).
Throughout the semester we will address topics such as:
- Epistemologies of health education and their curricular repercussions;
- Active methodologies and learning in health teaching;
- Integration of digital technologies and artificial intelligence in health training;
- Meaning‑making in the teaching‑learning process of health education.
The pedagogical approach will combine dialogic lectures, guided reading, practical workshops, and case studies. Assessment will consider qualified participation, weekly reflective syntheses, the development of a concise curricular project, and a critical report on the use of VBS.
If you wish to ground or restructure your teaching practice on solid, reflective bases aligned with national curricular guidelines, I invite you to enroll. For questions or further information, contact me at glaucioaranha@ufrj.br or on Instagram @glaucioaranhaufrj. I am confident that our learning journey will broaden horizons and enhance pedagogical practice in the health field.
